A June 15, 2009 interview on Fox61 News with Teresa Twomey, author of Understanding Postpartum Psychosis, A Temporary Madness. Ms Twomey states, “While most women who suffer postpartum psychosis eventually recover without harming anyone, they most often do so in silence. Paranoia is a common symptom, explains Twomey, and that moves women to hide their symptoms from everyone around them. The woman can hence appear normal, but be putting both herself and her baby at risk. We can prevent and treat this, but we need to recognize it by better screening of women postpartum”, says Twomey. If you love a sister, wife, or any woman in your life, please get educated on the signs and symptoms of PPP – you just might save a life.

www.twinpossible.com Here is that little bit of hope for ya’ll, that I had been searching for, the whole time I myself was pregnant with twins, and couldn’t really find. I know I’m not alone in that, hence why i’m sharing, plus just wanting to share my big ‘ol preggo belly, which I honestly miss terribly, as horribly uncomfortable as the very end was. I love having the girls here, but I wish time didn’t have to go by so fast! Before I know it, they’ll be sitting up, eating solids, walking..WAH. Ok, lemme stop for now, just ranting. Have a wonderful day everybody!

A woman leans out of a train’s window. A building collapses. A drop evaporates on a heated element. A man and woman are absorbed in the darkness of a corridor. A field of yellow flowers swallows a woman in a yellow sweater as she walks into the distance. Debeaumarché explores post partum depression poetically, image after image. “post partum is the general name given to the physical residue of birth itself, but also to the new mother’s consequent depression. Melancholy following euphoria. The movement from the fantasized anticipated act of birth to the inescapable reality of existence. To give birth is to abandon dreams and anchor oneself in the real. … More generally, post partum entails a shift from desire to fear for the future. Absence and loss.”
