Answer by jjsmami
I took a test too and it came out negetive, i went to planned parenthood and it was positive. Go to a free clinic in your hometown just to be on the positive side. But also sometimes your mind plays tricks on you. If you thinking your pregnant you can have symptoms but not be. Just check it out.

Question by *Dixie*: What does birth control do to a pregnancy?
I’ve always wondered what effects birth control has on an expecting mother and baby.
If a woman didn’t know she was pregnant and stayed on birth control, would it terminate her pregnancy or just give the baby birth defects?
I’m wondering, because I learned that the germinal period (time where the baby is most vulnerable) is from 2-8 weeks. So will it harm the baby if she didn’t know?
Best answer:
Answer by ♥**•.¸Girl Due 1/21/10¸.•**♥
Most likely it will cause birth defects It is not strong enough to terminate.

Maharashtra is plagued by a high rate of maternal and infant deaths. In response to this, a new scheme has been introduced in Pune to improve the follow-up care of pregnant women. All women are eligible to receive a complete medical check-up every month, free of cost. This scheme has been running for one year now and has brought about tremendous change in the condition of pregnant women. Because Rohini is volunteering in this program as an ASHA — accredited social health activist- , she personally witnessed the changes. “My role is to ensure that the women would access the hospital and benefit from the free check-ups offered there. I go around my village, and drive them to the hospital. They’re usually wary the first time they come, but change their mind once they realize they receive a good treatment free of cost” said Rohini. The latter has been trained for four months before taking up her position as an ASHA. She is now able to inform the women on various things like nutrition, vaccination, and to sensitize them to the particular health issues related to pregnancy. “The program has brought about a big change for women. There has been no delivery death since we’ve started this scheme. It’s a great success and I hope it extends to other cities and states now!”
Question by tommy girl: How much should i save for my pregnancy and child birth?
Hi,
I am at Sydney. How much money should i save for my pregnancy and child birth. I have a medibank card and planning for a private hospital.
Can u give me the total cost?
Best answer:
Answer by Bess
I’m on the Gold Coast & have a medibank card (I’m in top hospital & extras cover) & am having my bubs at a private hospital
I can tell you my experience so far as I’m 25 weeks pregnant.
Each Ob appointment is $ 80 & you get $ 30 ish back from medicare & you’ll see the Ob every four weeks until 28weeks then every two weeks. Not covered by medibank.
The two important scans at 12weeks & 19weeks were around the $ 300 mark each & get minimal back from medicare. Not covered by medibank.
My Ob charged $ 1850 at the 24 week appointment for his services of which medicare will contribute a whopping $ 100 & medibank will contribute $ 0.00.
Antenatal classes at private hospitals charge $ 240+ & you’ll get $ 0 back. I’d recommend finding a private midwife as you’ll pay about the same & get more one on one attention. I called my private hospital & asked if they could give me the name of someone & turned out the nurse who teaches the antenatal class at the hospital also does private classes which was great as she’ll know the hospital procedures etc.
As far as the in hospital goes, I’m hoping that’s when medibank will finally come to the table as that’s what they’re really there for.
If you reach your safety net (as at 2009 = $ 1111) out of pocket expenses in a calendar year via medicare by the time your 24week bill is due at your Ob you’ll get 80% back. Unfortunately for me I did reach my safety net but then 1st Jan rolled around & wiped it clear just in time for my $ 1850 bill grrr
As for the amount of money I’ve spent on actual baby purchases that’s a personal choice you could spend a little or a lot & that’s up to your individual budget.
I hope this helps!
Edit – Oh just remembered the initial Ob appointment was $ 220.
Also, I dare say a lot of these figures I’ve mentioned will be more in Sydney, I know for a fact they’re more expensive just in Brisbane a friend of mine’s initial consult at her Ob was $ 375 & medicare only gives back $ 60.
Edit #2 – Hopefully you won’t need it but I’ve been on Zofran since week 6 (for severe morning sickness) & am still taking it. The cost is $ 60 per box & you only get four tablets per box, this isn’t covered by PBS & medicare won’t help you, this is where Medibank will if you have pharmaceutical cover. Four tablets in my bad weeks lasts only 2 days!!! So I have paid $ 30 per day in most weeks just to get through the day!!! Medibank gives me back on each $ 60 packet, $ 30. Remember too that the pharmaceutical isn’t much per year, in this case I’m lucky I got a top up on Jan 1st!

Question by Nettle: What relieved the itchiness of prurigo of pregnancy? How soon after birth did it go away?
If you’ve had prurigo of pregnancy, what relieved the itchiness? And how soon after giving birth did it go away?
Thanks!
Best answer:
Answer by Victoria
I’m sorry you have this. I gave birth to my son in Sept 2009 and I had PUPPs (prurigo of pregnancy) from July to August of last year.
Please note that also, cholestasis can mimic certain symptoms of PUPPs.This normally only makes your palms of your hands, and the soles of your feet really itchy, and oftentimes it’s the only symptom. This is a serious disease affecting your liver, and is dangerous for both you and your baby.If you have PUPPs symptoms, your dr. should also do a liver function test, as well as a bile-salt test.
Over the Counter Remedies:
Hydrocoritizone cream-From my own experience, this didn’t really help much past the first 1-2 days of having PUPPs.Put in the freezer and go stand in front of a fan after putting it on.
Price:This is about $ 4.00 at CVS or Wal-Mart
Benadryl-Again, this is also a subjective remedy. It does make you drowsy,so pay attention to when you take this.I think the Benadryl/calamine lotion combo works better than the Benadryl pill.If anything, the pill will help you sleep.
Price: $ 5-8.00
Sarna Anti-Itch Lotion-The active ingredients in this are camphor and menthol, which give you a cool tingly feeling to alleviate some itchiness. It has to be reapplied often, and if you’ve scratched yourself raw, do not put it on! Trust me, I gave myself contact dermatitis this way.Take a cold shower, then put it on
Price:$ 11-14.00
Doctor-issued remedy:
Corticosteroids: I was given prednisone, 5mg a day for 10 days.Does help alot (I barely have any hives left) but i’m still itchy, but not nearly as bad.
Price:Your insurance should cover it, but I paid $ 4.00 at Wal-Mart because I didn’t have my card on me.walgreen’s and cvs charge $ 15.00.
Comfort-oriented remedies:
Cold showers- several times a day. take one as cold as you can stand it. hot water dries out and irritates your skin further
Oatmeal baths- Aveeno makes this godsend of a product, but there’s generic brands too.dump it in lukewarm water, and within 5-10 minutes your itchiness subsides.until, 40 minutes after you get out of the tub and dry off, anyway.
Price- approx. $ 1.25/per bath solution packet
dress loosely-the more roomy clothes you’re wearing, my dr says that your skin “breathes” better. Personally, yoga pants and a tank helped me.Jeans=hell.
Herbal Remedies:
Dandelion Root- this is a pill recommended to me by a friend’s midwife. taken 2x/day, it supposedly helps. a tea made from this plant works too.
Price: $ 8.00
Vitamin K- Studies have shown women with PUPPs or cholestasis BOTH have lower levels of this vitamin.Ask your dr. if your prenatal vitamin needs some help.
Price: unsure
Vitamin E- break open the capsules and apply
Price: $ 4-8.00

Question by Mother Isis: How long after giving birth will a pregnancy test continue to show positive?
I have a baby boy that is nearly 4 months old. I did have a period last month, January 18th start date. I missed this month and was about to go ahead and start birth control, but thought better take a pregnancy test to be sure. They have all come back positive.
So, I am just curious if I could get a false positive after giving birth back in November of 2008.

Question by Heyy:): Knowing the difference between pregnancy and effects of your birth control?
Is there anyway to know the difference? I’m guessing my best bet would be to take a pregnancy test, but I’m a couple weeks too early to take one.
I’m having some bleeding, but I’m not sure if its because of my birth control or implantation. I’ve been bleeding for about a week now, not heavy but spotting like when I wipe.
Just started taking BC pills 4/10 and I would say I started the bleeding around 4/22.
Best answer:
Answer by Candie Barr
bleeding now would most likely be from the bc if it’s a couple weeks too early to test. You ovulate 10-14 days before your period, implantation happens 6-10 days after that and implantation bleeding happens 1-3 days after that

Question by Maddison’s Mommy: How long does a pregnancy test show positive after giving birth?
If I gave birth to my daughter on August 24th and I take a pregnancy test today or tomorrow morning would it still show positive? Typically how long does it take to get all the pregnancy hormones out of your system? Im not breast feeding and havent been bleeding since my second week post partum. Thanks in advance for your answers.
Best answer:
Answer by Lily’s due Nov. 1
I’m guessing the hormones are out of your system pretty early since some women get pregnant a couple weeks after giving birth. They usually find out with a test because their periods aren’t back to normal yet.
