bit.ly A stroke doesn’t have to be disastrous. Although strokes are one of the leading causes of death and long-term disability, knowing how to identify stroke symptoms and taking fast action can save a life. This knowledge saved the life of Sara, who was 36 years old and in her first trimester of pregnancy, and that of her unborn child. In the case of Sara, stroke signs were initially thought to be pregnancy-related issues. Fortunately, her family was able to identify the symptoms of stroke, recognizing that they were far worse than what could be considered pregnancy-related problems, and rushed her to the hospital. Sara had suffered a rare brain stroke (cerebral venous thrombosis). Rapidly identifying the signs of stroke, reaching a diagnosis and subsequently beginning stroke treatment probably saved her life and enabled her to enter a stroke rehabilitation program where she gradually reclaimed her life. Today, because the signs of stroke covered in this video were rapidly identified and acted upon, Sara is almost completely recovered and enjoying her toddler. This is her story.
