    the camera is amazing

  2. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

@MadreMaven It was discovered the day we were planning to leave the hospital. I got a really high temp as we were packing up to leave. I think that was the 20th or 21st, hard to remember now… lol

  3. MadreMaven says:

@NaturallyThriftyMom I was trying to avoid making you feel as though you needed to justify your choice – you don’t! I just wanted to point out that an epi isn’t mandatory for an OP baby – although you felt you needed one and made that choice for yourself, and that is wonderful.

Sorry to hear you had a uterine infection – was this during labour or postpartum? I seem to have missed that bit.

  4. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

@MadreMaven cont.. I really feel that I gave it all I could, trying SO many different positions for so long, and practically passing out from pain. I hope I don’t sound too awfully defensive but I still feel did the right thing for me & my family. Especially after knowing I had a uterine infection and all that went along with it. Although, I do know that each birth experience is different and another woman in that situation may have been able to do without.

  5. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

@MadreMaven Thank you for your comment- I would have to agree that ‘a woman doesn’t NEED a epidural for a posterior baby’. However, given the circumstances of the birth I still feel it was the best option for me. After at least 4 hours of laboring at 7 cm not making any progress with cx SO close together, I really don’t feel I would have had the strength to do anything- let alone push. cont..

  6. MadreMaven says:

Also, contractions will not kill you. And unless there were signs of distress from the baby (meconium in water, which is the first bowel movement) or heart rates consistently dipping during a contraction and not bouncing right back at rest, then it is bad practice for a nurse to use that as a method to encourage you to have an epidural (which to be perfectly honest, makes her job easier).

I just want to put it out there to anyone reading comments…not to upset you.

  7. MadreMaven says:

That is likely why your contractions were back to back – they were working on turning him. I’m not trying to discredit your experience at all. Your birth was unique to you, and you are following what you needed and wanted to have a satisfying safe birth.

But posterior babies can and ARE born in that position (same with forehead presentations, nochal hands etc).

  8. MadreMaven says:

Thank you for sharing your story…but as a birth professional I need to point out…a woman doesn’t NEED a epidural for a posterior baby. You may have wanted one and I hope you found it helpful (will watch the rest of the video).

Many many babies are posterior, and will be open that way if they don’t turn as they are birthed. They can turn right up until the birth and the contractions are what makes the baby turn, not what holds them back from turning.

found it…i like the top you have on btw

  10. WowenLikeWoah says:

    You look extremely familiar!

  11. sweetpee27lp4 says:

That just sounds like you had a pretty stressful tim. I love your shirt , where did you get it?

  12. clairelou09011988 says:

@NaturallyThriftyMom quick but so painful i didnt even have time to think! i nearly passed out so many times!

  13. mummybee88 says:

My daughter was born sunny side up, she was facing the wrong way the whole birth, but luckily my labour was only about 4 hrs in total with pushing so I was very lucky I think. You are right about it being painfull. If mine went on any longer I would have had an Epi too.

  14. divahoney2001 says:

@NaturallyThriftyMom I KNOW!! lol my first one was NATURAL eeekk haha but for this one believe me i will call and sign that paper for the medicine lol

  15. BooBear6607 says:

I know exactly how you feel- we had a “bad” hospital experience as well and have since decided that baby #2 (we are still ttc) will be born at home, hopefully. Congrats on your beautiful baby.

  16. GustaMapache says:

@NaturallyThriftyMom possibly being on all fours turned him posterior (that is what i first thought might happen before i heard you say he ended up being posterior.) he’s beautiful :) congrats again

  17. mommyof2britany says:

I have heard that having your water broken can cause your baby to turn posterior. Just something you could research and keep in mind…. (I am not for sure but my water was also artifically broken and my daughter was also sunny side up, and I know I read somewhere that they are related)

  18. alandamandamama says:

@NaturallyThriftyMom I did not mean to leave a cliffhanger… I had close contractions and Augustine was anterior… the except must have been that I was super scared for some reason to have my water broken and I knew about it. I almost wish that would have not told me like you your story!!

  19. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

@divahoney2001 lol. The epidural experience is definitely different than natural laboring, that is for sure!

  20. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

@redelozier Good to know! We definitely want more babies :)

  21. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

@MrsMSG79 It was definitely frustrating, but at least he is here and healthy :)

  22. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

    @JenNTim509 I know!

  23. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

    @alandamandamama except?

  24. NaturallyThriftyMom says:

@xxxjoelpolexxx I didn’t know she used the amni-hook until after he was born. I knew exactly when my water broke, I just didn’t know it didn’t just happen naturally or just from her checking me. The doctor that delivered me was not my usual doctor. Just the one on call. :( I really wished we had our regular obgyn- she is sooooooo nice. That is a definite down side to delivering in the hospital. You never know who is on call.. At least Joseph still got to be hands on in the delivery….
