In fact, better prenatal care makes for healthier babies and good health as a child means a healthier adulthood. This day of awareness was started to remind people of the importance of the health of our children. The US Dept. of Health and Human Services has set up a resource for children and families for where to find good prenatal care, get regular updates during the course of pregnancy, location finders for good family health clinics and ways to get kids health insurance. Kids cannot vote for themselves so they need those of us who can to remember that the health of the next generation affects us all. Dr. Mark Savant is a General Internist.
