Question by Heather: When did you start showing first and second pregnancy?
I’m 5’2″ and I weigh 121 lbs. When I look it the mirror it looks like my tummy is already starting to get bigger and I’m only 5 weeks! With my first pregnancy I weighed 143 starting out, but I didn’t really even start to look a little pregnant until 7 months. Am I getting bigger sooner with this pregnancy? I’ve heard you do with your second, but I wanted to know your input.
I’d like to know when you started showing with your first and second pregnancies. Also, if you don’t mind can you tell if you were skinny, average, a little chubby, or whatever else during the pregnancies? Thank you so much ladies!

I’m very tall and thin…but managed to hide it for nearly 20 weeks for my first preg and 14 weeks for #2. Naked, I showed earlier. However, my sister showed before her pregnancy test was positive. Depends on the person.

it all depend on you body type the smaller you are the quicker you’ll show and it also depends on the amount of food you eat
I’ve heard that you start to show earlier with your second pregnancy. When I had my son, there was a another woman–my same size!–on her second pregnancy, and she looked like she was two months ahead of me.
Also, since you weigh less with this pregnancy, it is definitly going to be a lot more obvious, sooner, that you are pregnant.
With my first I was about 6mos, second 14 wks, third 5wks. I started at about the same weight for each one, (5″7, 135lbs) I was in the best shape before my 2nd.
I’ve heard a couple different reasons for showing sooner, second time around your body knows what’s going on and stretches sooner (it hurt more for me the 1st time) But I also just recently heard that sometimes a diastasis (separation of the recti abdominis) is the culprit. I have this now, (8wks postpartum) and am trying to close it up. It’s worth looking into the ways to protect your expanding muscles from separating!
I have three children and with the first it was just like your first pregnancy. I didn’t show until I was about six months. My second and third were way diffrent. I had a small pooch by six weeks. It’s very normal. Expect to show faster, but if you eat well and take care of yourself you shouldn’t gain an excesive amount of weight. Congrats on the pregnancy!
I’m 5’5″ and I weighed about 125 when I started my pregnancies.
I am average size/weight (right at the top of my weight limit for average) 5’4″ and 149 lbs. At around 6 weeks, I became a little swollen and my pants were a little tight, but not too bad. I didn’t really look pregnant until 20 weeks. This is my first pregnancy. I would think it is probably just fluid. I do have a friend at work who is about your size and on her second pregnancy, and she did begin to show and gain weight sooner with this baby.

I’m 5’3″ and 100 lbs… Though I barely gained any weight during the first trimester, I did get thicker around the middle after the first month but it didn’t look like I was pregnant. I had a noticeable bump at 4 months and it wasn’t obvious I was pregnant until 5 months. At 9 months, my doctors were concerned that the baby might be small and did an ultrasound. They found the baby to be quite large and healthy, and shook their heads at how well my body “hid” the pregnancy. They explained that strong muscle tone helps keep your tummy held tight even while pregnant. This is probably why first pregnancies show to a lesser degree than second pregnancies. After you’ve given birth once, your abdominal muscles have been stretched and divided. Although my stomach is now flat, I haven’t done the abdominal exercises to bring my muscles back to their pre-pregnancy state, so I’m sure a baby would fall forward and show more easily the next time…. thanks for the reminder… I think I’ll get right on those abdominal exercises

honey, with my first pregnancy i didn’t start to show until i was about 7 months,and with my 2nd i started to show when i was about 3 1/2 months,i was so big with my 2nd that people thought i was having twins.with my 3rd baby i didn’t get big until about 5 months.I’m a small woman
Ok I am only 4’8 and I was 86lbs before my first pregnancy I didn’t start to show until I was 5 months pregnant and when I delivered my son I was 133lbs. I am not 15 weeks pregnant with my second child I was about 115lbs before getting pregnant this time and I have been wearing meturnity pants since I was 10 weeks along and I could see I was showing probley around the same time you are now. See the reason you show sooner with the second and thired and so on is because your body has already done this before and so it doesn’t take as long to get roomier as it did with the first because it was all new it takes it longer to get streached and have things move around. Congrats on the new baby!!!

I’m 5’2″ 95-100 lbs. at first pregnancy. My pants started getting tight around 11-12 weeks.
I’m still 5’2″ and I was 103 lbs. when I got pregnant 11 weeks ago. I’ve been showing for about 2 weeks now but I’ve not gained any weight, just belly. It is less in the morning and more pronounced in the evening. Gravity, maybe?
I just read that women show faster and feel the baby sooner when it is not the first. Our bodies are primed for the experience now. I also read that labor and pushing tends to go faster but the afterbirth pains are often worse.
