I’ve heard that if you drink a lot of caffeine and stuff like that can actually make a pregnancy test come back negative when in actuallity you are pregnant. Is that true and is there any other factors in making a positive test negative?

the only ones i know of is a defective test. which is slim. and that you dont have enough of the hormone in your body. i’d wait a week or 2 and take another one

if hcg level (human chorionic gonadotropin ) is over 5, then you are pregnant-most pregnancy tests however, at least the cheaper varieties, do not show anything under 20 If this is the case then it could be you(or whoever) just did become pregnant and need to wait a few days as the amoutn doubles every 48-72 hours Never heard anything about caffeine affecting it as that wouldnt make HCG not show up
It’s probably not the caffeine as much as it can be diluted urine from drinking too much fluid the night before or int eh middle of the night; also, not taking the test at first morning pee when urine is more concentrated can also affect the test results.
The test instructions warn you of this. Follow the instructions CLOSELY.

When you are pregnant, there is a hormone that is present in your body. The tests obviously check for that hormone to be present. In some cases, the hormone can be so low that it doesn’t register. This is typical of testing too early, as this hormone multiplies or grows stronger the farther along you are.
This is the same hormone that doctors check throughout the pregnancy to determine if one may be at risk for a miscarriage. If the count isn’t high enough when you are so far along, there can be trouble.
I’ve never heard of caffeine doing that, although besides testing too early, an error with the test or misread are normally the culprits.
