Question by Mother Isis: How long after giving birth will a pregnancy test continue to show positive?
I have a baby boy that is nearly 4 months old. I did have a period last month, January 18th start date. I missed this month and was about to go ahead and start birth control, but thought better take a pregnancy test to be sure. They have all come back positive.
So, I am just curious if I could get a false positive after giving birth back in November of 2008.

i think you’re pregnant. maybe you should schedule an appointment with your doctor

I think its safe 2 say you are pregnant again! Hcg is usually out of the mothers system by 4-8 weeks post-pregnancy.
lol Been there done that! no hun the hormones wouldn’t still be in your system unless you were pregnant. Look at the bright side! Your kids will be close in age and they will grow up the best of friends. I have two little boys that are a year apart to the month. I will warn you that having them this close together with be a lot like having twins. But congrats!

Don’t think you were looking to get pg so fast, but by golly you did! HcG will show in your system up to 8 wks postpartum. Your son is 4 months old. You were expecting a reg period and you missed it, got a positive result. That’s a brand new baby in there, girlie. This is why it’s recommended to start b/c either b4 you leave the hospital or 2-6 weeks postpartum. It’s ok though. Life is what you make it. Just take care of your new baby and yourself. U will be really tired, but with a bit of excercise, some extra helping hands and great nutrition, it can and will be done. You will need more rest than ever, because your body is gearing up again and hasn’t really had the time to recover from the last time. Talk to your doc tomorrow and follow the advice to the T. Most women stop producing hcg at about 6 or 7 months pregnant. The hormone levels start going down at that point so at 4 months post partum you would not have any pregnancy hormone unless you are pregnant. Congrats on the new baby (babies) You have another one on the way!
