I am in second month of pregnancy, we are an indian couple 30-yrs old, in USA. I want to know what is the ideal calorie chart for me to follow a diet, especially a veg indian diet.

I can’t answer that but try using www.myfooddiary.com. My wife and some coworkers use it and they LOVE it. Everyday it seems like someone new is signing up. It will really breakout your diet versus recommended intakes. It’s a fabulous tool!

stick to around 900-1200 calories a day. watch for the danger zones like ghee, roti and rice. try to minimize the amount of oil you use. dhal is really good for you – good fibre and protein – but just cook it with less oil. your masalas are mostly ok. haldi (tumeric) is the latest darling of the nutrition world – they’ve found that its good for your heart and even your respiratory system. chilli is good for your metabolism – just don’t use so much that it burns too much. even the garlic and ginger is good for you. so watch the ghee and the white flour and you should be ok.
