the diet that your ob-gyn or nutritionist tells you to follow.

please do not follow a diet according to what u read here, everyone’s pregnancy is different, and you have to eat what is right for you.
u have to see a doctor who knows about vegetarians and they will test you to make sure you aren’t lacking in anything.
if you are, then they will advise you on how to eat properly.

As long as you take your prenatal pills, your baby will get take all the nutrition he/she needs from whatever you eat. I like red meat but when I was pregnant I couldn’t even look at it. I used to like eggs and bacon but even now I rarely want it. I ate a lot of bananas when I was pregnant and made an effort to eat chicken for the protein. I also liked peanut butter too. Congrats!

Ask your doctor what is right for you! Different health conditions can make different diets ideal for the pregnant woman. Generally, eating fresh foods that are minimally processed is ideal. Of course you need a nice balance of protein, carbohydrates, fats, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. I have had four children practiced different diets and lifestyles each time and had amazingly similar results each time. My kids were 7#10 oz, 7# 13 1/2 oz, 7# 14 oz., and 7# 14 1/2 oz. Their apgars were 8, and 9, 8 and 9, 9 and 9, and last but not least 9 and 9. All very healthy, active, good sleepers, except for the colicky one and his worse problem was crying a lot from 4 – 7 p.m. every day. Do your best to keep healthy yourself and don’t put too much pressure on yourself–you can help but not totally control the outcomes in children!

Eat what you want and however much you want just so long as you eat mostly healthy and take your vitamins. Pregnancy is the time to enjoy eating not worry about it.
