Increase calories from good foods but what your intake of bad calories and fats and carbs. Veggies, fruits and proteins are great during pregnancy. It is ok to give into cravings for sweets just watch the serving amounts. Don’t drink a lot of caffinated beverages. Take your prenatal vitamins.
cut back on your sugers
i know its hard
drink lots of water
eat your 2 fruit and 5 veg a day and your laughing..
eat dairies for healthy bones, fruits, vegetables. and meats avoid most sea food for some are high in mercury. and walk too…my mom said it helps when labour comes around.
prenatal vitamins just because not everyone can eat the necessary amount of vitamins. a vitamin high in folic acid
well, smokee, you shouldn’t smoke for one thing. no alcohol or drugs. no medicines or pills without consulting the doctor. As far as food goes, go crazy!! this is your chance to eat anything and everything you want ( I think).
You need to stay away from uncooked food like sushi or undercooked steak. Make sure you take a prenatal vitamin every night after you eat dinner. Make sure you have a lot of healthy dairy, fruits, veggies, and lean white meats. Make sure you are also getting good carbs from things like fruit and whole grain cereals. Be sure you space your meals out and have six small portioned meals every day. They should have a healthy variety of food. You should only up your calorie intake about 100-300 calories. You don’t want to gain weight too fast. Good luck with everything
Baby Centre has a great article about eating healthy while pregnant..http://www.babycenter.ca/pregnancy/nutrition/diethealthypregnancy/
Here’s a quick summary:
DO:
- Eat lots of veggies. The greener the better.
- Follow the food pyramid.
- Make sure everything you eat is well cooked! (No medium rare steaks for you!)
DO NOT:
- Eat sushi or any undercooked or raw foods.
- Eat soft cheeses as the main ingredient in them is usually bacteria.
It also says that while satisfying your cravings with bad foods is okay occasionally, watch what you eat. You don’t want to be overweight or get gestational diabetes!
Also, watch your caffiene intake. The new studies show that over 200 mg a day can actually increase a chance of miscarriage by 50%.
Definitely watch your sugars, especially if diabetes runs in your family. Gestational diabetes sucks and it can be avoided with proper care.
Congrats!
Have go consulted your doctor? Your OB will go you a pre-natal book where she records your condition every time you visit the clinic. That book contains all the basic and necessary info re your pregnancy. It contains pregnancy overview, early signs, emergency signs & symptoms, DIET, (impt. nutrients for you & the baby & substances to avoid) Exercise, Common troubles, etc. , Almost everything you want to know about pregnancy, and even the checklist of things you will bring to the hospital and baby names too! You can ask for that little book from your doctor. It’s a handy help for moms to be.
A lot of people with the first pregnancy gain more than the rec. 30 pounds and actually gain 50 to even 80 people I have talked to. Your body has cravings and you will want to eat so much so just try to limit sweets and bad stuff and get out and walk and you should be fine. Take your vitamin, drink plenty of water, eat sensible smaller meals throughout the day to keep your energy up. I found when I felt nauseas it was because I needed protein and when I ate a hard boiled egg or turkey something like that in the morning time I felt better.
