Did any of you drink diet pop regularly during pregnancy? Did your baby turn out okay?

Question by in_my_opinion: Did any of you drink diet pop regularly during pregnancy? Did your baby turn out okay?
How much did you drink? Is drinking one 20 oz (caffeine free), 5x a week okay? Especially if you have sugar-free gum too? I’m trying to quit for 3rd trimester.

oh god yea. diet soda is totally fine. I asked my doctor, and he said there is nothing wrong with drinking it during pregnancy. some people just worry too much. Its not gonna hurt or damage the baby. I drank diet soda all through my first pregnancy, and my baby was very healthy, and would have a few cans a day of diet soda, and im pregnant again, and i still drink caffeine free diet soda. its safe.

  2. dahlia says:

having some diet soda is fine, just make sure you are drinking plenty of water as well.

  3. Nikki says:

The concern for soda isn’t really about the sugar as it is the caffeine. Diet soda may not have sugar but it does have caffeine. Caffeine has been know to cause birth defects and miscarriages, also increases your blood pressure and heart rater which isn’t good during pregnancy. That being said I drank regular soda during my pregnancy a lot with 8-10 glasses of water a day and my son was fine.
