I wanted to add that the book, “Natural Hospital Birth: The Best of Both Worlds” just came out (Spring 2011) and it is a perfect guide for the kind of birth that Sarah is describing.
GREAT video. I am in a similar circumstance. No midwives or birthing centers in my area. We are looking into getting a doula to help during labor. Birth is a natural process, we were born to do and I feel confident in my body’s ability. Also the business of being born dvd was a great source of information.
Yay! That’s just about how I want to approach it too! I also read :
The Official Lamaze Guide; Giving Birth With Confidence.

Gentle Birth Choices.
and many others including some that seemed to not have a problem with a medicalized birth HOWEVER, in all the other material I read none of it ever actually stated that a medicalized birth was better or healthier, guess they didn’t want to lie in print!
I love this! When it comes to giving birth “ignorance is NOT bliss”. More woman need to educate themselves as you have BEFORE arriving at the hospital to give birth! KUDDOS – I hope your birth was everything you planned.
Awesome! I am a home birth mom and recently posted a video called “Educated Birth.” Its so great to see women like you out there. You are so right about training for a marathon. Keep getting the truth out there. Best wishes!
