Natural Childbirth

giving birth naturally – no pain medication Baby born at 9:52pm on Tuesday July 27th, 2010. 7 lbs. 13 oz. baby boy. 38 weeks pregnant (previous pregnancies were 3-5 days late so labor and delivery unexpected 2 weeks early) Prayers for our baby boy are welcome as he recovers from some health challenges (related to his kidneys). Baby was able to come home from hospital NICU 3 weeks after birth. I planned non medicated birth @ hospital w/ midwife because I’m VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarian section) so higher risks. Our newborn son needed medical intervention immediately after birth. This was a “dry childbirth” (no amniotic fluid), and baby’s abdomen was larger than his head! So yes it hurt. To those of you who don’t like “SCREAMERS” and thing tooth pain is worse.
Oxytocin secreted during labour and child birth has an amnesiac effect. When I studied neuroscience we learned that many women either have no clear memory of the pain, or they “remember” it as being “not that bad”. So, good luck with your second delivery (you know who you are) ;) also, there are neurotransmitters secreted that keep you from going into medical shock. It was a number of years ago that I finished my studie

@Ahdree23 I had an US at 20 weeks and all was normal. There was no need to do another later on – all was well and I was so healthy. They can not pick up whether there is amniotic fluid with the baby monitor during labor, no. Only with an ultrasound late in the game, which I didn’t have. He (baby) drank it all, and wasn’t able to urinate, so all the fluid backed up inside of him – that’s how he got into trouble. But yes, “dry birth”. “Dear gawd Oh lawd” – well, it all turned out :)

  4. Ahdree23 says:

@jjandjake oligohydramnios? how did they not see that or did u not have a pre-delivery ultrasound? did u not have a monitor, they can even pick it up there. wow what kind of facility misses those things? So u were like seriously having what those old maids call a dry birth. Dear gawd.

  5. bajaman1974 says:

would it be hard to have a baby in the house?

  6. jjandjake says:

@princessangelfromhel A lot of women expecting babies seek the videos out. It’s why TLC has a whole series focused on it, A Baby Story. I also know that women wanting to give birth naturally specifically seek natural childbirth videos out. I did it. It was crazy. The video didn’t have any footage I wouldn’t want shown. So I decided to share it.

  7. jjandjake says:

@Ahdree23 Yeah I thought I was going to die a couple times myself…I had to keep telling myself that I was not going to die. Anyway it gets to a point where it’s too late to get pain meds once you’re dilated to 10. (I had “caved” at one point around 7cm and asked for meds but by the time I got to my room I was at 10 anyway). Unknown to us, my baby had fluid backed into his abdomen and it was larger around than his head…plus I had not amniotic fluid to help cushion his exit.

  8. princessangelfromhel says:

One question: Why do people put this stuff on YouTube, isn’t you child birth a bit personal.

  9. Ahdree23 says:

Ok I watched the whole video. Lol, u should really really ask for pain meds next time. Some ppl can take pain some can’t. I thought u were going to seriously die in this video.

  10. Ahdree23 says:

Oh wow. No. Just…..no. And the crazy thing is alot of women don’t remember the pain much after the baby is born.

  11. Amybtru says:

@jjandjake I’ve had 5 children…I was VBAC as well for my second all others were cesarean…I went totally drug free too and it really is pure torture! I screamed too and I thought I was being ripped in half too! You go girl, proud of you! :)

  18. jjandjake says:

@jjandjake maybe you should consider filming your birth…so many women are looking for inspiration and should be able to see how different natural childbirth can be, from one birth to another. You can come back and make a “video comment” here to share it, if you end up doing that. Best to you.

  19. jjandjake says:

@tastycake1982 Yes I did feel like I was being ripped apart actually (some women actually do rip apart, tearing) Wasn’t so funny at the time, but yeah I see your point now. It’s like if you slam your finger in the door, you yelp. It’s BS that women should not scream…they should do whatever comes naturally to get through it, and for some, that will be screaming and moaning. (I also had zero amniotic fluid in me, and baby’s ab was swollen larger than his head due to fluid backup in him)

  20. tastycake1982 says:

Its funny seeing some woman SCREAM like they are ripped apart. lol I had my daughter natural and it really was not as bad as most people make it seem. In fact, Im 35 weeks tomorrow and plan on doing it natural again. Its really not that bad.

  21. maltseasalt says:

These comments are too funny XD

Look at the power of these woman, womans are special Gods creatures who can emerge so much pain, but even after been trough all the hardship of delivery, they just smile at their new born baby. That’s why moms are the best.

  24. jjandjake says:

@roylings2 oh yes teeth pain….now that is bad!

  25. roylings2 says:

@Marmladyful stop being a sexist little bitch thats not true the worst pain someone can possibly endure is teeth pain and btw instead of watchin people give birth shouldent you in in the kitchen?
