pregnancy clothes?

Question by crtate29: pregnancy clothes?
i’m only 9 weeks preggo, but i was wondering from some of you ladies that are further or already have had a baby – do you usually go up in pants size drastically or pretty much stay the same? i was wondering when i went to get some pregnancy jeans if you could wear the ones with the panel throughout your pregnancy if they stretch? or do you need to buy new sizes throughout regardless? thanks!! (and i am obviously aware that you do gain quite a bit of weight! that’s not what i am asking about :)

Mmhhh, I started using maternity pants at 4 months. I am now working on the 7th month, and one of my maternity pants is getting tight, and I still have a few more weeks to go. I can still wear them, but they are not comfy anymore.

Maternity pants are supposed to get bigger along with you, and they do, but somehow, I think I managed to oversize mine. Just something to consider.

  3. Justwondering1 says:

Well pregnancy clothes and normal clothes are sized differently. So If I were you, once you feel uncomfortable in your normal clothes go try on maternity stuff.Buy some as you get bigger. Don’t buy a whole grip at once. Go slowly as you get bigger. Snd remember Maternity clothes is usually expensive so look out for some good sales. I found many so Iucked out. ENJOY YOUR PREGNANCY!

I got my regular size with the panel. It is what they suggest at Motherhood Maternity clothing stores. This pair with the regular panel has been the best fit for me. I am 33 weeks now.
I did get a low rise band pair early on, that is not comfortable for me now. I am carrying my baby low and the small low panel style doe not feel good now.

Well, I started buying maternity clothes in August (when I was still in the first trimester). I started buying pants in maternity sizes (the ones with the stretchy waistline) at the beginning of my second trimester. By the time I got to 7 months, those pants didn’t fit anymore, and I had to go up a size in the maternity pants. I just wore my regular shirts until I started showing, and, since then, I’ve bought maternity shirts in size Medium.

target, old navy or motherhood matiery

  7. nooni says:

it depends on your body some peoples size changes throughout their pregnancy and some dont

  8. SusieQ says:

usually you stay same size its usually the tummy part that matters

  9. exotiic.flava says:

well it depends on if you where maternity clothes.. or you still where regular.. one size fits all in maternity clothes they are sooo comfortable!!

  10. geinerschroer says:

If you buy the pants with a cotton panel in the front, they stretch a bunch!! I never had to get a different size in preggo pants. Most places you buy your pre preggo size and it pretty much just has the stretchy cotton panel.

I was having a hard time wearing my regular clothes by 12 weeks because I was thin to begin with, and my tummy got bigger right in the waistband area, and maternity stuff was too big. I bought a couple of pair of pants in a slightly bigger size, knowing I would wear them after pregnancy, and some cute stretch pants (which are hard to find, belive me…I got mine at Target). As far as the panel jeans…get the kind with the half panel. The ones with the full panel won’t fit you until you are really far along. I got some from my sister, and I still can’t wear the full paneled ones at 6 months…they slide down, but I can wear the half panel ones.

  12. Mommio says:

I had to buy three differnend kinds… originally I went with the elastic ones only to find that my baby could move then off my belly, so I was constantly pulling at them. Then I tryed the panel ones and that worked well.
But the sized of my pants did change, only once though, once my belly got big and it was “i can’t see my feet” big did I have to go up a size.

  13. lovelymrsm says:

Everyone is different when it comes to maternity clothes. The best idea is to just wait until you are uncomfortable in your clothes and then go out and look for new ones that fit right. When you’re pregnant that’s not only about size but about shape, and obviously every pregnant woman is shaped differently.

I also wouldn’t buy anything in advance because not only do you not know what shape you’ll be next month, but you don’t even know for sure that you’ll need maternity clothes. I am going to be induced with our 2nd in 13 days and I have never had to buy them. I’m REALLY glad I didn’t buy them in advance and waste a bunch of money! It’s easier (and cheaper) to play it by ear.

    Congrats on your baby!
