Pregnancy Week 35 Part 2

In part 2 you get to see my belly and hear about what my midwife recommends I bring to the birth. I’m going to list everything below along with a list of websites I’ve found to be incredibly useful. To bring to the birth (as recommended by Alma Midwifery) Mom Bag: 1. Labor clothes: anything you might want if you’re not comfortable laboring in the nude. Modesty fades in labor! 2. Postpartum clothes: Nursing t-shirt or night gown. Bring at least two, the first will get messy 3. Clothes to wear home: depends on weather, you can wear postpartum clothes or a bathrobe. 4. Personal care items for Mom: toothbrush & paste, hair care items, hair tie, lotions, lip balm, and whatever else is used for daily care. 5. One 4 oz. bottle of olive or almond oil to rub on perineum as baby crowns (only for use in out of water births) 6. Bathrobe 7. Change of clothes for your partner, swimsuit if they plan on getting in the birthing tub. 8. Slippers or flip flops for mom & partner 9. Six bottles of Recharge or Gatorade (this is a must have) Baby Bag: 1. Outfit: with undershirt, hat, socks & a blanket. Depending on weather, you may need a heavy blanket 2. Three cloth diapers & wraps if you want cloth on baby from the start. 3. Weleda brand or other baby diaper cream (optional). Avoid Johnson & Johnson and other petroleum-based products. Herbs (Optional): 1. Arnica Montana 30c, used for bruising and aches & pains 2. Rescue remedy: Bach flower essence for calming. Will use later if not during …

    My belly is growing exactly like yours… all to the front, but my belly button is completely sticking out, I like it though. I am 32 weeks and 5 days a long and I am having a boy, I was wondering if you were having a boy also due to the shape of our bellies. I am also lucky in the no stretch mark domain I hope it continues this way. My mom had big babies and didn’t get any stretch marks, so maybe the good genetics passed on to me. Thank you for the video very informative!!

    No I didn’t get any stretch marks, I’m very fortunate to have good genes. My mom had five kids and never got stretch marks so I think it’s genetics all the way for me. I used an oil I got at a natural foods store called ‘Mother’s Special Blend’ and I loved it. It’s a blend of natural oils, smells wonderful, and also helps tighten the skin up after pregnancy. I’m sorry you’re getting them and hope you find something that works for you!

    Did you really not get any stretch marks! Your belly looks amazing here. Im 35 weeks and my baby girl has already done so much damage.. The stretch marks are rediculous… were you using any products?

    Thanks for the support Sandra! I wish you the best as well, I’m hoping you have a great experience too. It’s just such a unique and exciting time in my life, I’ve never felt this way before about anything and I feel so present in every moment. It’s really different and magical.

    Good, I’m glad it could be helpful. I didn’t realize it was going to take so long to go over it, but I knew it was really different in a lot of ways from a hospital list and thought that in itself would be a good enough reason to share. And thanks, I love my belly too! :)

    No, you don’t have to give them formula. The mother’s body makes colostrum for the first 2 or 3 days, which is much thicker and is exactly what a newborn needs. It coats their entire digestive system and seals it so that they can later digest the breast milk without any internal bleeding. That’s why giving babies formula before breast milk is so bad for them, they get small amounts of internal bleeding without the colostrum to seal everything up.

    Hi, I support you 100% with your plans of have a waterbirth and using hypnobirth. I am going to have a waterbirth, too. Thank you for sharing the list, I was just working on it when I was watching your video. In case I don’t write you before your date, I wish you the best!!!     Seeing as I’m a first-time Mom I don’t really know how to answer that. We’re not doing a birth plan with our midwife because the way they work is so in line with what we want. You should definitely ask if they’ve worked with hypnobirthers before and I would recommend including that no one even mention drugs to you and certainly not push it on you when you’re in the sensitive time of labor. The nurses can get really pushy so I hear. Let me know how it goes!

    I use Rescue Rememdy at the moment (19 weeks) I use it when I get a lot of pain. It doesn’t take away the pain but helps me to relax.
