Observing Pregnant Mare Horses in Pature- Crazy ? Answered- Rick Gore Horsemanship
www.thinklikeahorse.org – Here I discuss pregnant mares in a herd, talking about how they move and act as a herd. It is not a natural herd since there are no males but still talk about how they are now and then later after they have their babies, I will discuss the differences. I also talk about a crazy question I got. If you don’t like my answer, I don’t care, so save the comments about how mean I am. I do not want to support or encourage bad decisions that end up costing a horse. I try and promote responsible horsemanship where people learn, study and plan before making bad decisions and setting horses up to fail. There two horses in the question will have to pay for the poor decisions of the person that bought them. Don’t play the victim with me and try and blame the mean guy that sold the horses, I agree he is an asshole, but he can not do what he does if stupid people stop playing the victim, get educated and put his butt out of business.

My Granny’s friend has a 12 year old Black thoroughbred mare named Roxie and she is currently pregnant with her second foal, Madalynn. In 2008, Roxie suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage after suffering severe colic on her ninth birthday when she was pregnant with her colt, Toby. I hugged her for three hours to ease the pain. Two years later after a history of miscarriages, Roxie finally gave birth to her first filly, Sophia. Roxie was happy and so was i. I cant wait till Roxie gives birth again

lol okay Rick we know a colt is a young horse with balls….a gelding is a colt or stallion that has had them removed….So tell me….If Mr. T. is an older horse, and was gelded….How come you call him a Stallion? Does it also mean that it is the lead horse? Or is it poor choice of words, because your so distracted by the lesson?

My mare was pregnant when we bought her. And she would charge us because she thought we were going to hurt her and the baby. But we didn’t know she was pregnant then. But when we found out she was. We were able to handle her better. But she came from a /herd/ with 3 mares and 3 colts and 1 gelding that was a stallion a year later. So She was very skinny because they ddint’ let her eat. You couldn’t even tell she was pregnant. She only had 3 months left too. I can’t wait to see these babies.
lol, about the horses not laying down in stalls, my friends poor horse has back problems from his previous owner (he’s a pony…you know how that goes) and he lays down in his stall all the time. He does it when his back hurts sometimes, and other times he just falls right asleep becasue the only other horse around him is his buddy Chester in the stall next to him, and the other side his pasture mare Lady (cranky 25 year old watches them both like a hawk) some people freak out when he does it
The weather’s cleared up in England. It’s feeling warm. We only have one horse with a blanket on. An ex racer thoroughbred. Rescued a few days ago and brought to us. Severely underweight
Poor thing. If a child was treated as this horse was, it would make the news as it is “it’s just a horse”. There should be stricter laws on animal treatment and abuse…
Would you think it’s ok to put a blanket on a horse with a skin issue causing it to have a lack of hair who is really skinny?
I’m from Germany and we don’t have a translation for “filly” and “colt” we just use Stute=mare, Hengst=stallion and Wallach=Gelding. But anyway I do know what’s meant with filly or colt.

I’m currently 7 1/2 months pregnant, and I totally relate to these mares. I feel just about as big. LOL
And I can’t even express how much I love your videos. I wish more people would pull their collective heads out of their asses and see their horses for what they are: a HORSE. I wish I could bring you out here to talk some sense into my husband’s aunt and uncle because they are exactly the type of people that you complain about the most.
