Love Stanhope and he is certainly right about over populations being a problem. But it goes even deeper. In N. America the economy is designed to rely on eternal growth. We can’t get our pensions if we don’t have a growing populations, the economy will crumble. We need an entirely new design for the capitalist system in place here. Without I can stop fucking all I like they’re still going to bring in enough immigrants to make up for that. Unless we change that model, nothing changes.

It’s not really places like the US and EU that need to worry about over population, though. It’s places like Asia and Africa that need help with family planning.

@PhilanVortex I too, sympathize with this. Things are going to get ugly if the population keeps booming like this. Had this discussion with my mum the other day about the resources running out by 2050 and she said “Oh well, I won’t be here”. But I fucking will. I will, my boyfriend will, my friends will, the children my friends want to have. We’re young enough to probably have to deal with the beginnings of the fallout from this…and nobody thinks when they bring these kids into the world!

I read a book (fictional) where I actually sympathized with the villain’s agenda. His “evil” plan was to release a virus that would sterilize, not kill, about half of the world’s population. Imagine that. In 100 years 3 billion people are dead, and really, (and I know this is a stretch) the world’s problems such as famine, drought, global warming, destruction of natural resources, pollution etc would be solved. The world needs less people.
