40 years old and pregnant with lap band
First, let me apologize for saying seasoned women. I just dont know the pc word to use for me being at my age. Old ain’t the word. However, this is my story on the fight with weight loss and now a new baby on the way. Dont know how the two are gonna mesh together. Let’s see together!
After the Glucose drink, I guess doctors want your levels to be between 95-135. Mine were at 140. So I have Gestational Diabetes. In this vlog, I talk about the diet my doctor has put me on. I do not have to do the finger testing.

I fell you. I just turned 39 last month and because of unprotected sex and not thinking I can get pregnant anymore, I am pregnant and have mixed feelings about this. My hubby is beside himself and I’m lost in words.

Are you in maryland you sound like a marylander, I understand your position and pray that things go well for you but you will have to have an unfill while pregnant. My kids are 13 years apart so I can really dig it.

They told me b/c of the band, that I should have a goal of 20lbs to 25lbs weight gain. Doc says I’m on track 
But I asked if I didn’t have band, what would be my goal…he said NO ONE should gain more than 35-40. But if u do, just get on a healthy eating after baby is born and exercise. Usually, he said, the more than 35 is just extra fat. But he said it’s one of the pluses of pregnancy…eating

@msgodschild86 It is annoying b/c there are a lot of women I know who are at a healthy weight and have GD. But then I know women who are much heavier than I and they didn’t have it. I was told to lose weight and funny thing was, losing weight FOR ME, helped regulate my cycles. But it’s not like that for everyone. :/ Because what of the women, like yourself who have lost weight, and haven’t conceived? Or the women who are at a healthy weight and don’t conceive? Agree with your comment!
@bonnieb118 I lost weight b/c of LapBand. But I am currently at 192. I’ve gained so far 12lbs.
My glucose was at 130 and they made me test for Gestational Diabetes, they said if it was at 129 I would of been fine. I had to go back for that 3 hour test ugh, the longest time ever. I should know if I have it by now, so i am just hoping I don’t have it. they said they’ll call me if I have it. I hope everything works out for you.
I’m going to do a video response to your vlog. I had GD so i’ll let you know the experiences I went through. Not sure if you subbed to me, but i’ll message you when I get it up
If you don’t mind me asking, what is your weight? I got pregnant at 220, have gained 2 lbs, and am very afraid of getting GDM. I have been limiting my weight gain because I am so afraid (and also because it is so hard to lose weight.) I wonder if this is something that overweight pregnant women should worry about.
I am sick and tired of hearing…you need to lose weight before getting pregnant!! oh yea? Well I have been trying for four years with nothing so STOP telling me to lose weight.. don’t say thats the problem because I have LOST 70 pounds!!! uuuuugh!!! it makes me want to scream at the people that say things like that! My sisinlaw is a lot heavier than I am and she has three kids!!!! you would think 70 pounds would make people proud of me…but UH NO!!!
I completely agree with that comment!!! My OB said that I needed to get down to 230 when I saw her the first time and was dianosed with pcos in 2009 and when I saw here in January she said to get down to 210 pounds… I understand where they are coming from… but I don’t think it will be a huge problem if I did get pregnant now.. I plan on talking to my OBGYN in september about starting femara or clomid… They are the ones that i have to see for that not the NP we shall see wht hppns
I don’t think you have GD. The 1 hour test isn’t usually the one they use to diagnose GD, it’s the 3 hour fasting test. Since you passed that, I think you are just fine! TONS of women fail their 1 hour, and then pass their fasting test with flying colors, just like you! =)
@msgodschild86 my doctor said to only gain abour 20-25 lbs i was 230 when i started bad morning sickness made me drop down to 220 and then now at 32 weeks im at 240 so not to bad . my doctor said at the waigh i was it was fine to get pregnate so ur doctors are just duches =)
when i weighed 270 i was told to get down to 230 and then try and get pregnant.. then i was told to get down to 210 and now im being told to get down to 200 before getting pregnant.. but the first amount of weight was coming from my OBGYN..the other amount was from my nurse practitioner.. and she doesn’t really seem to know what she is doing… she wanted me to be put on an anti depressant that causes birth defects…and I was like a NO!!! not happening!!!
how much weight did they say you should gain during this pregnancy? I have always been told that ladies that are heavier should only gain like 15 pounds as apposed to the 25 – 30 for a thin person.. I am afraid that I will gain weight eduring pregnancy and have a heck of a time losing the baby weight… thats what scares me at this point.. i have lost seventy pounds…but am still being told to lose weight before getting pregnant… isn’t sevently pounds a huge amount already?
