1 Week Postpartum Update

All the nitty gritty details about what I went through during that first crazy week. I wanted this to be an open and honest recollection of what life was like. I’m not trying to complain or scare anyone, but merely to share my experience. And, as always, Hannah’s little baby smiles made everything better!

I have 2 7 year old twin daughters, I was only able to breastfeed the first week after they were born but had to give them formula in the hospital because I also had a c-section and my milk didnt come in until 4 days later, my post partum depression was horrible I was a crying mess lol, it didnt get better I was put on meds 4 months later for it, they are now happy and healthy but I also wanted a natural birth but had toxemia so was not able to.

You know the breastfeeding thing is so common. All my friends went through the same thing. I wonder if there is a way of teaching moms to get the baby to latch or I don’t know what, solve that problem because it’s very important. And it’s supposed to be such a natural thing. I wonder how the moms of the time when there were no formulas did it. You know? There got to be a way to make it better. I don’t know. It frustrates me.

    she is too cute!

Your nose itching- did they put you on percocet (sp?) after your c-section? if so are you still takin some for pain? If so, thats VERY LIKELY that thats why your nose and or face is itching. When I had my son and was taking that I thought I was going to claw my face off!!

Thanks for sharing, your experience was many ways similar to my own. I also had a long labour (77 hours), supplemented in the hospital because she was just so hungry, and my husband and I were just exhausted after the birth. I ended up back in hospital two weeks later with mastitis and suspected uterine infection. Even if things don’t work out as planned it’s all worth it when you finally hold your baby. Congratulations on your beautiful strong little girl! All the best to the three of you.

Watching this made me relive my c-section recovery.. I was so scared about the staples coming out, I made them dose me up with pain relievers before removing them, then i was surprised that it sorta itched when they were removing them. lol
I kinda miss the pain relievers, not because it made me ” high” but because It made me calmer and was able to handle everything with ease. when I went off of them, it felt like my world was chaotic.
    You both are beautiful. Congratulations.

It is amazing to watch Hannah do the same things that Meadow does (eating her fists) Meadow was 9 pounds 5 ounces at birth too. Congrats again, Hannah is amazing.

//*7No flack for supplementing at all… and yeah I was so so sore that first week as well… And it was painful for me as well early on. You know what’s best… and you did what you needed to do !!! When I had my fibroid removal surgery (a C section like surgery) I know how hard that was… I can’t imagine having to nurse and take care of a baby on top of it… you are super women ! And BMS with C Section and vaginal are both scary !!!

  15. amishhorse says:

This little girl is a precious little angel!!

  16. AzulSaphire says:
