HalfThrottle Gets A Job
I wasn’t exactly in a hurry to make it to the waterfall. And one reason I use that crappy tourist map is I honestly enjoy being lost. Cerro Banko waterfall is in the “Comarca” which sort of like an Indian Reservation in the US the Comarca is a large piece of land in Panama reserved for the Ngöbe Buglé indigenous tribe. The men in the tribe no longer wear their traditional clothing, but the woman do. The colorful dresses they wear all look like maternity dresses. I like to use the joke, “You know how some women have regular clothes, and maternity clothes? Well Ngöbe’s only have maternity clothes.” It seems like the woman are always pregnant, and it’s very common to see teenage girls taking care of their babies. How do you call that wood? don’t know the name in english, but what does tarzan use to swing? Here is “cipó”, sometimes is an aerial root, sometimes its a very flexible steem. For a moment i was thinking maybe that was chicken intestines and stuff..

@seekinsoul Well now you know where to go and stay so you can experience the simple life. I spent 3 days on an island in a hut like this. It was cool, but I was very ready to get back to the mainland and stuff a cheeseburger in my face.
@halfthrottle To be honest I feel a bit bad for them (and people like them), but at the same time envy then for their simple lives. No car payments, no mortgages, or credit card payments, no cell phone bills, just the basics. Makes one wonder who really has the better life.
