Q&A: What is the soonest time after unprotected sex pregnancy will show on a test?

Question by jenny: What is the soonest time after unprotected sex pregnancy will show on a test?
My b/f and I had unprotected sex and he did finish. I am not on any birth control or anything currently. I know, not a good idea. Although I do have an appointment in less than two days at the doc to get on birth control. I am aware they give pregnancy tests in the same appointment, but I am wondering if I were to become pregnant from this time only a couple days before my appointment if it is too soon to show up on a test?

Best answer:

Answer by WILNA S
it depneds on how strong or concentrated the hcg hormone is, i got a positive after 13 days.

How long after a miscarriage will a home pregnancy test be accurate?

Question by Liza Jane: How long after a miscarriage will a home pregnancy test be accurate?
I was 7 weeks along when I had a miscarriage, everything was natural, no d&c. It has been about 5 weeks since the start of the miscarriage (it lasted about a week) I took 2 home pregnancy tests yesterday and they both came out positive, could this be because my hcg levels are still up from the miscarriage or is it more likely that I am pregnant?

I would think pregnant but see the doctor.

Q&A: How soon did your frequent urination start during pregnancy?

Question by Freezing in MN: How soon did your frequent urination start during pregnancy?
I am tentatively 4-1/2 weeks pregnant right now. With previous pregnancy that ended in miscarriage, frequent urination seemed to be a more obvious symptoms for me, but only during weeks 6-8 or so and mostly early in the morning, having to get out of bed to go. I found myself getting up this morning with the urge to go, but the amount didn’t quite correlate with the urge. I know it isn’t a bladder infection. Has anyone else felt like the urge was more than the output? And when did your symptoms start?

Best answer:

Answer by Hilla B
Initially I had it from the increased blood flow – your kidneys function better and so you pee more. That lasted weeks 4-10. THEN you bladder starts getting squooshed. That usually starts (atleast it did for me) around 20 weeks. It gets worse the farther along you get.

What is your opinion on baby think it over and the pregnancy profile vest?

Question by Shelbi =): What is your opinion on baby think it over and the pregnancy profile vest?
Do you think its a good idea to make teens have the baby think it over and the pregnancy profile vest? I’ve done both of them and I think I benifited from both. Do you think it should be required in school, or just optional? The baby think it over cries every 3 or 4 hours. You have to rock it when its fussy, feed it, change its diaper etc. You also have to support its neck and not shake it. The pregnancy profile vest has a “head” that moves when you walk. It makes you gain 30 pounds (i think). It makes you have to frequently use the restroom. It also had two feet up by your stomach. It is very hot to wear. Do you think these are even teaching teens anything? Any other opinions?

Best answer:

Answer by chrysteena
the baby think it over was used in my high school…. though i didn’t take the course that required you to have one (child development)… my best friend did… so i got to help… it was just like a game for us…. i can honestly say that it didn’t keep our students from having sex… but promoted the use of protection…. about 10 or less people in my class got pregnant/had children before high school was over… and i’ll guess and say about 50-60 through out the school… by the time i graduated.. my best friend had her first child when she was 21 and recently gave birth to her second…. so i guess it had some effect on some people…. we didn’t use the pregnancy profile vest… but im sure in addition to the baby think it over …. it will prove effective.

Q&A: What are the odds of getting one positive pregnancy test & 2 negatives?

Question by kelly060520: What are the odds of getting one positive pregnancy test & 2 negatives?
I took a First Response Pregnancy Test earlier and got a very faint positive line. I have taken 2 more since then, both negative.

Do you think it was a false positive, or could it be too low of hcg levels to detect, since I am testing early, and have been drinking water to make myself pee.

what is the fastest way to lose post pregnancy weight?

Question by gina m: what is the fastest way to lose post pregnancy weight?
I am 6 wks post pregnancy; need to lose 33 lbs and am not breastfeeding. What is the fastest way to lose?

Best answer:

Answer by ny
When you are losing weight, you should exercise and diet together.
If you exercise without dieting, you will get bigger appetite, which
will lead to increase of weight, or muscle grow
underneath the fat layer, and make you bulkier. If you diet without
exercising, you will become flabby and will have excess skin. For
diet, go wheat free. No pasta, pizza, bread and so on. And no food
after 7 p.m. People achieve marvellous results with it. Depending on
your initial weight, you can drop upwards from 20 pounds a month. If
you don’t eat wheat then you don’t eat all those sticky, fatty goey
cakes, you don’t eat junk food, and you don’t eat biscuits. But your
diet is still balanced. It costs nothing, and you do not have to
calculate points or to buy special meals or plans. For exercising,
start with walking, and then switch to running/jogging. Running is the
most efficient and calorie-burn exercise ever. If you are overweight a
lot, walk first or you may have health complications (heart attack,
disjointed bones and so on). Weight lifting is a good means to target
your problem areas for men and women. It’s not necessarily to become a
bodybuilder or even join a gym – a couple of dumbbells will help you
to target your problem areas (stomach, butt, legs, arms, chest).

Q&A: Is it normal for uterus to hurt in pregnancy?

Question by 2/20/2009: Is it normal for uterus to hurt in pregnancy?
I am 3 months pregnant and since about 6 weeks I would say my uterus sometimes just hurts. Sometimes only for a second, other times the whole day. My pregnancy is going along just fine and healthy but has anyone else experienced this? It is so painful as my uterus is stretching, I realize its just going to get worse most likely but any remedies or any similar experiences?

Best answer:

Answer by Ashley W
I had this same problem with my second pregnancy, and my doctor said that it has to do with the muscles stretching around the uterus, and my best remedy was always to use a heating pad (warm, NOT hot!) at night before you go to sleep. Towards the end from about 7 months on I experienced a LOT of Braxton Hick’s contractions, which were quite painful, and I still made it to full term! As long as the pregnancy’s healthy and everything is fine, just take measures to make yourself as comfortable as possible, even taking a small dose of Tylenol when it’s really bad can do wonders!

Can a pregnancy test read an ectopic pregnancy?

Question by Bella: Can a pregnancy test read an ectopic pregnancy?
Since hCG is produced due to a fertilized egg which is implanted in the uterus, is there any hCG produced in the case of an ectopic pregnancy? If so is it readable on a pregnancy test? Or if the fertilized egg does not produce the larger amounts of hCG that an implanted egg in the uterus would, is a physical check-up the only means of determining an ectopic pregnancy?

Best answer:

Answer by Kammy B
yes, it can read an ectopic pregnancy, but the only way of knowing if it is ectopic is by getting an ultrasound.

How long will the cramping continue in early pregnancy?

Question by : How long will the cramping continue in early pregnancy?
Im in my early pregnancy and i was suppose to get my period and didnt but I have some random mild cramping thats off and on. It’s just annoying and I worry. Is that normal and when did yours stop?

Best answer:

Answer by Rebecca Horn
As long as it’s not accompanied by bleeding it’s normal, it’s just your uterus expanding and getting used to the fetus. Mine never stopped. I’m 33 weeks pregnant and I still get it off and on!!!!!!!
Good luck, if you’re super worried call the doctor! Better safe than sorry.

Q&A: How to work out a cash payment plan for my future pregnancy? Any Ohio programs other than medicaid?

Question by rz: How to work out a cash payment plan for my future pregnancy? Any Ohio programs other than medicaid?
I have insurance but it only covers me if I have complications during my pregnancy. I believe my doctor takes medicare etc (we make too much for that) so I figure we are going to have to pay out of pocket. Are there any ohio programs for cost assistance associated with pregnancy? I heard you can speak to the doctor and tell them that you’re paying cash for everything and they will give you a discounted price for everything from beginning to end. Is this true? Any advise would be appreciated!

Best answer:

Answer by Catherine L
I would look into buying another insurance policy or switching insurance. Maybe you can add “maternity coverage” to your current policy.
